Purpose of the role:
The AP Manager role involves overseeing and managing the Accounts Payable operations within the specific market.
You will focus on ensuring accurate and efficient processing of vendor invoices, payments, and compliance with financial policies and regulations, against the agreed KPI’s for ABS.
You will be responsible for escalations within AP and will collaborate with Regional Process Leads to drive harmonization of the AP processes within the designated market.
The objective of the role:
- Define and enforce invoice processing rules; approve critical deviations where necessary
- Approve and manage selected vendors in line with company policies
- Act as the main point of contact for escalated queries and drive resolution with internal and external stakeholders
- Lead communication and compliance for No-PO-No-Pay programs
- Oversee payment processing activities, ensuring adherence to schedules and terms
- Optimize payment cycles to support efficient cash flow management
- Approve manual bank transfers and advance payments in line with delegation of authority
- Monitor and evaluate early payment requests considering business impact and working capital
- Approve vendor master data changes in accordance with delegation of authority
- Oversee month-end closing activities, including accruals, reconciliations, and controls
- Ensure compliance with Travel & Expense policies and manage exception reporting
- Establish and enforce AP procedures (segregation of duties, approvals, documentation standards)
- Implement and monitor internal controls to safeguard assets and prevent fraud
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and accuracy
- Identify and implement automation and technology solutions to streamline processes
- Support development and maintenance of digital tools and manage external SMEs where applicable
- Build strong relationships with procurement, finance, and business stakeholders to ensure alignment and effective communication
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of AP accountants and team leads, fostering a high-performance culture
- Ensure AP service levels (SLAs) and KPIs are met; identify and implement improvements where needed
Requirements:
- 5–7 years of experience in Accounts Payable
- Minimum 3 years of people management / team leadership experience
- At least 5 years of experience working within shared services functions as advantage
- Proven experience working with regional teams in a matrix organization
- Strong stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration skills
- Solid understanding of AP processes, controls, and compliance frameworks
- Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills

ABS encompass a broad range of financial activities designed to support businesses in their day-to-day financial operations, long-term planning, and compliance with regulations. These services are crucial for maintaining financial health, making informed decisions, and achieving the overall financial objectives of the organization. The key outputs of ABS are to provide accounting services including the summarizing and reporting of financial transactions of a business, preparing financial statements, managing accounts payable and receivable, and ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards and regulations. ABS is also responsible to adhere to multi-jurisdiction financial regulations and reporting requirements, including ensuring compliance with these regulations and ensure accurate and timely reporting to relevant authorities. In addition to this, ABS is to use effectively use financial software and systems to streamline processes, improve efficiency, and enhance data security.
