LEGAL SPECIALIST PROCUREMENT

Position Overview & Purpose:
Procurement Legal Specialist provides (i) day-to-day high level of professional legal advice to the above market Procurement in standardized regional situations, and (ii) professional legal support to Procurement Legal Manager in delivering legal advice in complex legal matters, and (iii) support to Procurement Legal Manager in delivering AEI Procurement related projects of various nature.
What you will deliver (Key Deliverables & Responsibilities):
• Provides high level of legal support related to AEI Regional Procurement activities to the Procurement Legal Manager and the Director of Legal.
• Provides independent experienced legal support and coordinates cooperation with the Global Procurement Legal dept. as well as with the Local Procurement lawyers in matters with a cross-regional dimension.
• Provides day-to-day legal support to the above market Procurement function on general as well as specific contractual issues, including drafting, reviewing, and negotiating purchasing agreements for goods and/or services.
• Provides legal support in dispute resolutions and help manage external lawyers and commercial consultants.
• Provides legal support in the entire contracting process (RFP tender process, pre-contractual relationships / negotiations, contract documents structuring and preparation with respect to regional level of contracting and individual local market customers further involvement).
• Manages development, harmonization and maintenance of Procurement contract templates.
• Ensures maintenance and development of Legal Procurement know-how database (contracting documentation, applying of up-to-date Procurement function principles and policies, Asahi contracting standards), generally overseeing potential finance/tax, IP, DP, CG issues of the negotiations and cooperating with Procurement on receiving relevant stakeholders´ opinion / approval.
• Provides support to Procurement Legal Manager in delivery of trainings related to Procurement contracting, including trainings on contracting process and documentation (standardized Asahi documents and/or supplier´s documentation), legal terms and templates and negotiation issues.
• Continuously provides suggestions for improvement of contracting process within Procurement function while emphasizing the Procurement function ownership of the contracting process and later contract management by the Procurement function.
• Maintains strong legal and business governance and implement robust internal approval processes for contracts and supply.
• Independently advices on relevant legal/regulatory developments.
• Communicates legal facts in a manner understandable to internal stakeholders and describes regional and/or potential local market legal issues clearly.
• Independently gives clear legal advice and makes recommendations even when one or more of assumptions may not be fully validated.
• Demonstrates understanding of risk management and identifies legal risks and proposes appropriate mitigation actions.
• Identifies, evaluates, and prioritizes financial and business risks in order that they may be successfully managed.
• Proactively establishes and maintains effective relationships with internal stakeholders and demonstrates understanding of their needs and priorities.
• Understands expectations of internal stakeholders and recognizes when issues/events may affect delivery.
• Plans, coordinates, and manages internal and external resources to accomplish projects/assignments within the given deadlines.
• Maintains effective relationship with team members, demonstrates the ability to cooperate with a variety of people and achieve results.
• Delivers new ideas and finds new ways to deliver value to the business and ensures that legal advice is focused on business outcomes.
• Identifies and collects relevant data from commercial background to consider both short and long term business priorities.
Experience & Qualification Requirements:
• Master’s degree in Law from a Czech university (Mgr.), with bar qualification or equivalent considered an advantage
• 3 -5 years post-qualification professional experience ideally with a focus on international commercial contracts, procurement law, and vendor negotiations
• Business proficiency in spoken and written English is a must, other languages, such as German, is an advantage
• Working knowledge of English law contracts (e.g., common law principles, limitation of liability clauses, indemnities, etc.) is a strong advantage
• Strong negotiation and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to explain legal concepts in business language
• Confidence and independence in managing legal matters, with the ability to escalate appropriately and collaborate as part of a wider legal team when needed
• Solid presentation and negotiation skills, including the ability to deliver training or guidance to non-legal stakeholders
