Independent Free Trade Account Manager (IFTAM) – Central London
Entrepreneurial spirit is a bit of a buzzword, spread across job adverts nationally that often means “we’re not exactly sure what we want from you”. We’re going to attempt to go against the grain and showcase a role which we think genuinely appeals to someone with true entrepreneurial spirit.
The first thing you’ll be looking for as an entrepreneur is ownership. As an IFTAM that’s exactly what you’ll get, you nurture everything in your area end-to-end and have full P&L accountability. Working with customers directly, rather than through a more traditional route-to-market means you’ll be a lot closer to your customers’ businesses. You’re able to take a consultative approach to selling that appreciates their venue and provide solutions suited to their customer base.
This is where things get more exciting, because you’re not just selling the Asahi portfolio of brands, you’ll have additional responsibility of supplying third party wines, spirits, and soft drinks. With this range of products you’ll be able to help design cocktail menus, run wine tastings, and still be supplying the best beer in the market.
The more knowledgeable you become around the territory and the brands you’ll have time to explore new business opportunities. Understanding where the premium outlets are and bringing in new accounts to continue growing the area.
Some of these larger opportunities will also include regional multiple retail groups (MRGs), chains of bars, hotels, or restaurants which are buying direct from you. It’s important you understand the complexity of these customer groups and have had some experience working with them previously.
The other experiences you’ll be bringing with you is an in depth understanding of the independent free trade market. You’re acutely aware of the challenges faced in the industry and can provide a solutions-based approach to help those businesses thrive. Working with a variety of personalities also means you can adapt your approach to customers, and be an expert in extracting information during talks to provide the best suited brands to their needs.
