CREDIT MANAGER (MODERN TRADE)

Role Overview:

The Credit Manager MT is responsible for minimizing credit risk, optimizing working capital, and ensuring effective collection management across the Modern Trade customer portfolio. Acting as a key business partner to Sales and Customer Service teams, the role balances commercial objectives with financial controls, while driving cash flow performance and compliance. In addition, the position leads the MT Credit Team and supports continuous improvement across credit and collection processes.

Responsibilities:

Credit Risk & Working Capital

• Manage the MT customer portfolio to minimize credit risk and optimize working capital.
• Assess customer creditworthiness and set appropriate credit limits.
• Monitor credit exposure, support commercial initiatives, and provide working capital forecasts.

Collections & Customer Management

• Partner with Sales and Customer Service teams on credit and collection activities.
• Ensure timely cash collection and lead customer account reconciliation processes.
• Manage commercial disputes and oversee debt collection.

Process Improvement & Operational Excellence

• Drive continuous improvement across collection and Order-to-Cash (OTC) processes.
• Identify and resolve process inefficiencies impacting cash collection and customer service.
• Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to improve operational performance.

Cash & Factoring Management

• Manage the factoring program and support the company's cash and working capital strategy.
• Maintain banking relationships and monitor financing costs.

Governance, Controls & Compliance

• Ensure compliance with Credit Policy, internal controls, and governance requirements.
• Oversee credit reporting, receivables audits, and the timely resolution of audit findings.
• Support finance-related projects impacting credit management and internal controls.

People Leadership

• Lead, coach, and develop a team of 2-3 credit professionals.
• Foster collaboration, accountability, and a continuous improvement mindset across the team.

Requirements:

Must have:

• Master's degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or related field.
• 5+ years of experience, including 3+ years in Credit Management.
• 2+ years of people management experience.
• Strong financial analysis, credit risk assessment, and problem-solving skills.
• SAP (preferably S/4HANA) and Power BI experience.
• Fluent Romanian and English.
• Strong communication, stakeholder management, and negotiation skills.
• Solid understanding of accounting, internal controls, and working capital management.

Nice to Have

• Experience in FMCG, Retail, or Modern Trade environments.
• Knowledge of factoring, banking relationships, and OTC processes.
• Exposure to audit and compliance frameworks (e.g., J-SOX).
• Experience driving process improvement and transformation initiatives.
• Advanced reporting and stakeholder influencing skills.
